Hobgoblin Strong Dark Ale on draughtHobgoblin is a powerful full-bodied copper red, well-balanced brew. Strong in roasted malt with a moderate hoppy bitterness and slight fruity character that lasts through to the end.Lagerboy advert"What's The Matter Lagerboy, afraid you might taste something?"

Old Speckled Hen is a strong fine ale named after an unusual, speckled vintage MG car. The ale is brewed by Morland, a small brewery with longstanding connections with the town of Abingdon, the home of MG. The ale is a finely balanced, deliciously smooth pale ale with a subtle blend of flavours. It owes its distinctive character to a unique strain of yeast first used in 1896, and reflects brewing skills developed across more than 280 years of independent brewing history.

Black Sheep Music Festival 2007

This landmark building, standing high over the banks of the Ure, had fallen in to disrepair as years of neglect as a semi-redundant grainstore had taken its toll. Despite its overburdening rat population, rundown fabric and the little matter of raising the money, Paul assembled a small team around him to fight the rats and build a brewery. A traditional country brewery.

Paul searched the length and breadth of Britain to find suitable plant and equipment. The early 90's had seen the demise of many breweries following the onset of take-over and rationalisation within the industry. At times it became a race against the demolition contractor to whisk away vital and rare equipment before it became scrap.

TASTING NOTES
Full bodied and warming, rich in palate, spicy and aromatic with a deeply satisfying finish. This premium ale has been described as having a "classic" flavour not commonly available these days.

BACKGROUND
The roots of Buckleys Brewery trace back to 1767, where, under the ownership of Henry Child, a prominent Methodist, the company began to brew beer in Llanelli. The Reverend James Buckley later took on the serious development of the brewery after his marriage to Child's daughter, Maria. The Rev. James is named after the founder of Buckleys Brewery. A traditional centuries old recipe is followed to brew this premium ale, now proving to be a highly desirable 'guest' throughout the UK.

OUR HISTORY

The earliest recorded brewing on the site of Adnams was in 1396 by Johanna de Corby.  The present brewery was taken over by George and Ernest Adnams in 1857 and turned into a public company in 1891.  The Adnams family was joined by the Loftus family in 1901, and Adnams still has three members of the family working within the company, with John Adnams as president, Simon Loftus as chairman and Jonathan Adnams as joint managing director.  Adnams remains committed to brewing cask ale and non themed pubs.  Real Ale is available in 96 of its 98 pubs and it also supplies some 750 other outlets direct.  New fermenting vessels were due to be installed in 2001 to cope with demand.

Roaring Meg

The brewery began its life in 1990 as the smallest micro in England in a tiny outbuilding adjoining the original brewer's house in Sutton on Trent in North Nottinghamshire by a bend in the River Trent known locally as Springhead. Their beers soon attracted critical acclaim from both the trade and the public alike and after only 3 years the brewery moved to larger premises and new equipment to enable 10 Barrels to be brewed at one time. Since the appointment of Head Brewer Shirley Reynolds in 2001 the brewery has gone from strength to strength and in 2004 a new 50 Barrel plant was commissioned to meet the growing demand for our beers. The beers, many of which have an English Civil War theme, are delivered to pubs within a 100 mile radius and are available nationally through leading wholesalers.
